How to Install PHP 8.3 on Ubuntu 26.04

To install PHP 8.3 on Ubuntu 26.04, Ubuntu’s repos do not include 8.3, so add the Sury PHP repository. Do not add ppa:ondrej/php — that PPA is merging into Sury, and Launchpad has no Resolute packages.

Step 1 : Update.

Step 2 : Install lsb-release, ca-certificates, and curl.

Step 3 : Fetch the Sury keyring package.

Step 4 : Install it.

Step 5 : Enable the PHP repo (lsb_release -sc is resolute on 26.04).

Step 6 : Update again.

Step 7 : Install PHP 8.3 core.

Step 8 : Install the usual extensions (mysql, curl, gd / imagick, xml / xsl / soap, zip, mbstring, bcmath). gettext ships in php8.3-common.

Step 9 : Switch the CLI default to 8.3.

Step 10 : Verify.

You have installed PHP 8.3 on Ubuntu 26.04.
