How to Install NVM on Ubuntu 26.04

To install NVM on Ubuntu 26.04, run the install script, then load it in this shell.

Step 1 : Update.

sudo apt update

Step 2 : Install build tools.

sudo apt install build-essential libssl-dev curl

Step 3 : Install NVM.

curl -o- https://raw.githubusercontent.com/nvm-sh/nvm/v0.40.7/install.sh | bash

Step 4 : Load NVM in this shell.

source ~/.nvm/nvm.sh

Step 5 : Check the version.

nvm --version

Step 6 : Install Node 22 and set it as the default.

nvm install 22
nvm use 22
nvm alias default 22
node -v
