How to use SysBench on Ubuntu Server 20.04

Sysbench is a benchmarking tool to evaluate a system running database under intensive load. It is also being used as a tool to evaluate the performance of multiple cloud service providers.

Step 1 : Before using Sysbench, we will need to install it.

sudo apt-get install sysbench

Step 2 : You can check the installed version

sysbench --version

Step 3 : Sysbench provides a prime number generation test for CPU.

sysbench --test=cpu --cpu-max-prime=20000 run

Step 4 : Next, we will run a test for main memory

sysbench --test=memory --memory-block-size=1M \
    --memory-total-size=100G --memory-oper=read run

Step 5 : Next comes the storage performance test.

sysbench --test=fileio --file-total-size=100G \
    --file-num=4 prepare
